Helleborus foetidus, commonly known as the stinking hellebore, is a hardy evergreen perennial that provides structure and winter colour in the garden. From late winter into early spring, it produces clusters of nodding, bell-shaped flowers in fresh green, often edged with a hint of purple-red. The finely divided, dark green foliage is attractive year-round and adds a delicate texture to borders and woodland-style plantings. Despite its name, this hellebore has striking ornamental value and is especially useful for shady spots, where it will thrive with very little care.
